APCC Week 11~Altered Playing Card Challenge

Hello!
Welcome to Sunday!

Today I wanted to share my week 11 cards for the Alerted Playing Card Challenge by our wonderfully talented hostess Claudine Criner. You can see the wonderful challenge and her fabulous art HERE.

Click the images to make 'em larger:)

This was a super fun play! The backgrounds were created by using paper towels that had either been sprayed directly with ink sprays or the best part, the towels you use to soak up or dab off the excess ink that builds up when using sprays!

I put some gloss medium on top of the gessoed card. The skully card, I left the inked towel on it because I really love the texture!

The background has lots of bumps and ridges, so fun! Since I used gloss medium it dried nice and shiny. I added some sparkle tape at the bottom. The images are free digital stamps I found at WonderStrange. The digis are colored with Sharpies, Bic Mark It pens and some colored pencil.

For this card I applied the same gloss medium to the gessoed card. I pressed down an inked paper towel. I let it set for a few minutes and kinda pushed it down to get the ink into the medium. Then I pulled up the towel to leave the fun color on the background. The colors came out kind of bright, so I decided to stamp my images onto tissue paper then add it onto the card. The flower stamps are Prima, the circle is Unity. The sentiment stamp is Momenta. I added some tissue tape for the stem, but it is very light.

Thanks for looking!

Have a fun day!

12 Tags of 2014~November~Butterfly

Happy Friday!

I am so happy I managed to finish my tag for the challenge at Tim's blog, the 12 Tags of 2014. You can see his wonderful tutorial and be inspired by clicking HERE.

I used Tim's Butterfly die for my project. I love the inspiration he provided with this tag, and it was fun to play with what I had available.

Hope you like it!

Please click the picture to make it bigger:)

I love the cardboard it is one of my all-time favorite substrates! All colors are Distress Paints and Distress Inks and Stains.

I really had a lot of fun with this project and it turned into a small affirmation to enjoy the Here & Now:) I love the butterfly and details, it was hard to clip any portion of it. Absolute grunge and fun, I highly recommend this play! Make sure you pop over to Tim's blog to see all the wonderful inspiration and fun!

Left of Center Challenge LOC #56~Babies

Happy Black Friday!

Hopefully you are not too worn out from shopping! Well it is ok if you are, pull up a chair and visit the creative darkness and sweetness for this current Challenge #56 using the theme Babies for Left of Center! Remember, it can be any sort of babies and you can always go over to the dark side:)

Our wonderful sponsor is A Day for Daisies. Please hop over to see some really awesome digital stamps, the drawings are so gorgeous and must be seen and enjoyed! Support our wonderful sponsors!

I purchased this image, it is so sweet! I love fairies and this is perfect! It is called Bundle of Fairy Love and you can see it HERE.

Here is my DT project, I hope you like it:)

I combined the Bundle of Fairy Love along with A Day for Daisies Christmas Flower image using Photoshop Elements. The stone angel background is a gorgeous digital paper by Smeared Ink. Once I was set with the layering and composition, I printed the digi onto Bristol paper with my inkjet printer.

I wanted to keep the image of the fairies soft, so I used a water brush and Distress Inks for color. Once the coloring was done I layered the background with ripped paper edges stained with Distress Ink.

The book pages are rescues from my son's Lit teacher who was trading a falling apart copy of the Odyssey for a new copy for extra credit, my son and I were pleased with the deal:) I tore up some pages and smeared some gesso onto the canvas. Before it was dry I pulled up the pages. Then I re-attached them with some gel medium.

I love the sentiment, I stamped it with  mini alphabet letters then framed it with more torn papers.

Thanks so much for visiting! I hope you have a chance to play along with us at LOC, Left of Center where you always have the option of playing along with the theme or just going Left Of Center!

Have a great day!

Mixed Media Mojo DT Inspiration "Thanks" Card

Hi! Happy Wednesday!

Wow I was amazed how fast October flew by and now here we are, wrapping up November!

I made a card to share at Mixed Media Mojo, our November Challenge is to use "Thanks" in some way for your creation. There is still plenty of time to play, this card is fun to make and can be done with what you have on hand. I love using what is available, so I don't lose the mood to create by getting distracted :)

I used Core'dinations cardstock, love the texture and colors! The butterfly die is Tim Holtz Alterations Layered Butterfly. Love this die, it includes an embossing folder to add the texture and diecut it out perfectly.

I cut the butterfly out of a manila folder. Then I colored it using Distress Paints. To get the dark color in the valleys of the embossing, I used Distress Ink on the embossing folder before embossing. I made two die cut butterflies to layer them and make it pop up.

The butterfly is mounted on white Core'dinations. I added Distress Ink to the white edges.
The "Thanks" sentiment is stamped on a left over scrap from the butterfly cut. The sentiment is Newton's Nook "Falling Into Autumn" collection. The frame around it is Unity. The leaves and berries are the same Newton's Nook set, love it!

By cutting multiples of your diecuts or even punches, it is a fun fast way to get depth and dimension.

Have fun with Fall colors and have a great day!

Altered Playing Card Week 9~APCC

Happy Sunday!

I used this weekend to catch up on my altered playing cards for the wonderful challenge hosted by Claudine HERE

This is my set for week 9 :)

These were fun! Just fun images and texture!

I love this angel stamp. I am not sure who the maker is, but it is a wonderful stamp.  The sentiment stamp is Unity. The flowers I diecut from book pages.

This quirky tall hat man is a stamp I found on Wonder Strange, another super fun place to see!
I doodled the giant flowers to match the giant hat. I used a black Sharpie. It was a bit harsh so I added the gold Sharpie, a bit better:)

Have a fun day and thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a moment to leave a comment then pop over to see the APCC fun at Claudine's wonderful page, HERE

Smeared N Smudged Member Blog Hop~Transparency

Happy Thursday
Today I am participating in the Smeared and Smudged Forum Member Blog Hop! The theme or prompt for this month is Transparency.

For this Hop you can jump in anywhere, but if you want to follow the list, it is right here for you.

Black Dragon
Evil Edna
Jessica
Karen
LeslieRahye
Nanette
Kim
Sarah N
Keren
Susan
Sarah S

I took the prompt literally:) I decided I wanted to stamp on clear material.

I just wanted to make layers using some of my favorite stamps. I picked out the images and used Staz-On black ink for the stamping. I did let the pages sit and dry for awhile.

I used tissue tape to attach the pages,  it is more forgiving as I was figuring out how to arrange everything:) ...and if I wanna take it apart again, it is easy....

I like how the layers change as each 'page' is turned.

I used an embossing folder to make the clock faces page. After embossing it, I ran the Staz-On ink pad over the ridges on the clocks to bring out the details. It came out nice and had some cool streaks of ink too.

The last colored page, I used alcohol inks. After I taped the pages together, I mounted them on a manila folder card that I colored with Distress Ink. The inside of this spell book is empty, still a work in progress.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a moment to leave a quick comment saying, Hi:)
It is a bit quiet since October is over now.

Have fun hopping!

Monday~Nov 10~Wicked Wednesday #131~Merry 'Mas ATC

Happy Monday!

Hoping you had a great weekend and having fun surfing along blogs today!

I made an ATC for the wicked fun Wicked Wednesdays ATC Challenge. This is their challenge #131 and the theme is Skully Christmas.

I love ATCs they are small and fun to make! At a pocket size 2 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches it is fun to see how much or how little you can use to fill up the space!

The base of my ATC is grungeboard and I put the deli tissue on top then added the image on top of that. I used Distress Ink for the color. The stamps are Unity and Momenta.

I hope you can make time to check out the challenge and make an ATC to play along!

Thanks for looking and have a fun day!

Compendium of Curiosities Vol 3 Challenge #14~CC3C #14~Colored Crackle

Hi Happy Friday!

This is my project for the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #14, Colored Crackle. You can see all the details and wonderful inspirational pieces at Linda's blog, HERE.  This even number challenge is sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique with a fabulous $25 shopping spree, see her wonderful goods at her awesome shop HERE.

The Compendium Challenge this round is to do the Colored Crackle technique as shown in The Compendium of Curiosities Volume 3 book by Tim Holtz.

My inspiration for the actual project came from Hels Sheridan's Sunday Stamper prompt this week, Sewing & Stitches and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Good 'ol Days.

Please click the photos to see them bigger:)

My grandmother was a seamstress and always made clothes and doll clothes. I always remember her wood cabinet for her sewing machine kind of a medium brown wood. And she liked blue. I do not have any photos of her but I found some awesome treasures in my stash to make this all work.

Crackle texture is addictive and fun! This is the second project I made this week with them and I love it! Just wish they sold it by the gallon!lol

The photo images are from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Paper Stash pad Lost and Found. I love this stash, the papers are so pretty, I really have a hard time using them!

The stamps are Holtz, Blueprint Assortment. Also a wonderful Unity set with lots of sewing coolness!

The paper under the sentiment tag is a dried empty teabag. The thread is the string from the teabag.

I used various stencils with texture paste for the patterns. After is was set, I followed the Crackle Technique as outlined in my copy of Compendium of Curiosities Volume 3. Get your copy, it is well worth it! I am horrible at remembering techniques, so it is really cool to have them all assembled in a great book:)

Thank you for looking, I hope you like it and if you have a moment, I'd love it if you left a comment:)

November 6~LOC Challenge #52~Photo Play

Happy Thursday!

I am soooo glad it is soon Friday!

Though time ran away again and I have no clue where it went. I am thinking a lot of time went to playing on the PC. I was making a couple of projects then I detoured and just had a fun computer play inside Adobe Photoshop Elements.

I intended to make a mixed media actual tangible project but well, the fates conspired and it is currently only in the digital realm. Soon it will emerge from the digital dreamspace when the time is right I am sure.

It is so fun layering and collaging, is that a word? Well it is now:)

I am sharing this with Left of Center, Challenge #52. I have still not emerged from the 31 Days of Halloween, it is such a fun creative play & place to be:)

Please click to enlarge the image, sorry if it loads slowly >.<

The edges and backgrounds were images from Shadow House Creations, he has an amazing site and shares fabulous works for free. Visit Jerry at Shadow House sometime.

The ghostly ladies and owl are clip art from The Graphics Fairy and The Old Design Shop.

The butterfly, Turn Around sign, leaves shadows and wood fence are my own photographs.

I hope you like this collage and one should sometimes heed warnings...

I thank you for looking and do hope you have a moment to share what you think.

Go and see the amazing projects at LOC have fun!

November 2~Week 8 APCC~Altered Playing Card Challenge

Hello!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Today I have my latest pair of altered playing cards for week 8 of Claudine's super fun play along! It is a 26 week long challenge to alter an entire deck of regular playing cards. These are so fun and they are very close to an ATC size. There is a very fabulous and active Facebook group playing along, created just for this challenge as well. You can join up anytime, lots of people have. To get all the details you can click HERE. Come play with us!

For this play I used two cards that I had prepped awhile ago with some drywall tape and masking tape covered with some white gesso.

I used Distress Paints on my cards. Straight from the bottle I just swiped 3 colors on each card. Then sprayed with water. As it started to react I tipped is to get some drips and blending.

I wanted to make a pair but not matched, so I used the same stamps, they are Inkadinkado. The top more earthy colors card is smoother so I stamped directly on the card with Archival Ink. The colorful one below has more of my favorite dots and is bumpy. So, I stamped the hearts and butterfly then cut them out.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I appreciate your time and enthusiasm! Your comments make my day!

~hugs~

Hello!

Happy Saturday! Hope your candy hangover is not too serious or that the ghosts and goblins of the night kept you awake late!

Once you recover, come join in the new Challenge at Mixed Media Mojo! The theme for this month is pretty much Anything Goes. The twist, incorporate Thankful into  your art. Now it can be any variation of Thankful, have fun and run....

This is also my project for the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #14, 14! already!!

Please click the photos to see them bigger:)

I had fun trying out the Distress Crackle Paint with this project. It is so lovely and worn. The butterfly stamp set is Tim Holtz. The keys stamp is Unity. The leaves and sentiment is Newton's Nook. The cabinet frame die is unknown, just something I had in my stash.

I used Distress Ink pad minis to color the background after I had stamped the images. The keys were stamped with Distress Ink then clear embossed. The butterflies were stamped with Archival Ink then clear embossed. I colored the butterflies with Distress Ink pad minis set 11.

Thanks for looking!
Have a great day!
