APCC Week 27~Finale~Altered Playing Card Challenge

Today I have my Altered Playing Card Challenge set, week 27!

It is the final week of the challenge which was to alter an entire deck of regular playing cards at the rate of one pair per week. and yes! I did each week!! So happy to have accomplished this and at the same time, sad to see it done.

Please visit our lovely hostess Claudine HERE to see all the wonderful details. There is a Facebook group and it will continue on and we will see what comes along!

Thanks so much for following along on this fabulous journey. It means so much, I appreciate each comment and view of these cards that are so fun to make! Giant enormous hugs and thanks to Claudine for putting all this together and providing inspiration each week!

Here we go, as always please click each image if you want to see a bigger version :)

The base is the regular playing card covered with gesso to make things 'stick'.

The background here is inked with Archival Ink, Fern Green. I stamped the Unity butterfly on a book page with Jet Black Archival and then fussy cut it. The background stamps are Tim Holtz and Prima, stamped with Distress Embossing Ink and embossed in black. After inking the background, it must be totally dry so the excess EP does not stick where it should not :) (thanks for that reminder Claudine)

The background here I inked with Archival Ink, Potting Soil. But...it was way too dark. I thought it might lighten up on the gesso but no hahaha. So the opposite half I inked with Distress Ink Wild Honey which turned out much more yummy. I love the highlight it created. The background is stamped with a Unity postage/stamps stamp. The smaller images are Heidi Swapp. I free hand cut the heart.

The black smudge around the images I created by using a waterbrush and a General's watersoluble graphite pencil. (Micheal's craft store $3 for 2 pencils) I love the moody feel these pencils make.

Thanks so much for visiting today!

Have a wonderful week!

APCC Week 23~Steampunk Altered Playing Card Set

HelloHello!

Happy Monday!

To get things started this week, I have my altered playing cards for week 23 of the 26 week challenge created and organized by our lovely hostess, Claudine. Please stop by her blog for all the wonderful how-to's and creative prompts. You can hop over by clicking HERE.

I used a stencil to create the masking effect. I love this stencil of gears and cogs by Crafters Workshop. To me it uses negative space to define the shapes, so it seemed like a mask. I inked this stencil over the Folk Art acrylic painted bases.

This set of cards really picked up a lot of the texture from the gesso covered playing cards. I like the texture, but it made the stamping a little 'off'. I am using a new set of playing cards that I found at the dollar store. They are playing cards used in a Las Vegas Casino, that is why the corners are clipped on two sides. They actually have the casino name on the backside, too. Kinda cool :)

The stamps are Tim Holtz, Hampton Arts and Rubber Cafe. I used Jet Black Archival to stamp the images.

Thanks for reading! Now I am caught up with this challenge (again) and so excited to play with this week's prompt, use washi tape!! yay!!

Have a creative day!

APCC Week 22~Stencil with White Glue

Hi!

Today I have my Altered Playing Card set for Week 22! If you would like to see all the details on this amazing challenge, hop over to Claudine's blog HERE

This week the challenge was to create some texture using a regular white glue and a stencil.

Here is what I managed!

Please click to see bigger!

I used a simple dot stencil and another animal print. The dots came out really cool. The white glue is fun and it takes a bit to dry. The shapes come out really soft and organic.

Once the glue dried, I painted over the whole card with Folk Art acrylics. I love these colors!

Umbrella Man seemed a perfect fit for my dots or giant raindrops:)

Have a great week! Make some time to play :)

Weeks 17 & 18 Altered Playing Card Challenge APCC

Happy Sunday!

Hope your weekend has been fun and relaxing:)

I used my spare time this weekend to catch up with Claudine's Altered Playing Card Challenge! Today was a quiet day and it worked out well to play with my playing cards.

I did week 17, you can see Claudine's prompt and walk-thru HERE.

I really loved stamping with distress ink onto a book page, then using a water brush to blur the line. Such a fun technique!

The book page stamp is Inkadinakado. The other quirky bird is Vera Lane Studio, I adore her images!

This photo is my week 18 pair. I followed Claudine's prompt as you can see HERE.

I did the background in the same manner, but instead of flowers I used more of the super cute Vera Lane Studio images :)

Please click the images to make them bigger:)

Enjoy the day!
Thanks for stopping by.
