APCC Week 15~Altered Playing Card Challenge

Hello!

This is the next set of Altered Playing Cards, Week 15.

Almost caught up!

I used this week to catch up on my card pairs for the Altered Playing Card Challenge with the lovely hostess Claudine! You can see all the details HERE.

This week's theme was using embossing paste and ink sprays. I love these! The paste is such fun to play with and I adore the bright colors of spray ink!

I used a circle stencil by Plaid with my homemade texture paste. Once it dried I sprayed the card with Dylusions spray inks. Once I got the colors where I wanted them, I sprinkled some rock salt onto a few spots to get the fun extra texture and color spots.

This adorable owl is a digital stamp I won from a challenge with 2 Cute Ink, Owl Doodle. I love this cutie! I colored her with Bic Mark It pens and Sharpie Markers.

The stamps I used here are SandyLion, that I found at a dollar store. I love the scribble quality they have. The images are stamped with Archival Ink, Jet Black and Fern Green. The rest are Distress Ink,  Peacock Feathers, Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade. The paper has a really nice bumpy texture which I think really added to the nice feel to the flowers. The sentiment is Dyan Reaveley another phrase I adore:)

I really love how both cards came out and they are both techniques I will be playing with more!

Have a great day!

APCC Week 14~January Catch-Up :)

Hi!

Happy New Year!
Hope you had a safe fun filled Holiday Season!

I used this week to catch up on my card pairs for the Altered Playing Card Challenge with the lovely hostess Claudine! You can see all the details HERE.

And here are my two cards. Week 14

I drifted away from Claudine's gorgeous cards, but kept the spirit hopefully!

I used Distress Stain on the backgrounds on top of the gesso on each card. Then I partially dried it and then splattered some water to spot it.

I used white embossing powder for the snowflakes. The Distress Ink takes a very long time to dry on the gesso, so some spot were still damp. This grabbed some of the powder but I like it. It made it look extra snowy:)

The images are digital stamps by Tiddly Inks Called Cookie Bugg and Christmas Pixie. I colored them using Bic Mark It and Sharpie Markers.

Thanks for looking!

APCC Week 13~Bee~Altered Playing Card Challenge

Greetings this Sunday!

The week is ending or is it beginning? It is all good!

Yay! I am current with the APC Challenge! We are in week 13, half -way to 26! I love this challenge, such a fun format to play along with! You can see all the details at Claudine's blog HERE or click the Altered Playing Card Challenge button on my sidebar:)  And don't worry, you can play anytime, join us, make it a new New Years Resolution that is fun!

The theme is Bees! Such a fun theme, I really enjoyed this nice change of pace this week!

Warning! Picture heavy, told ya I had fun with this one:)

Please click each image to see it bigger.

I coated each playing card with white gesso. Then I used Distress Paint on top for the yellow and brown.

The bee is made from a Mod Podge melt and mold. I painted it with regular acrylic paint. The mesh stamp is Unity, Chicken Wire, kinda close to a honeycomb shape:)

The trellis die cut is Tim Holtz Alterations cut from Tim Holtz paper. The sentiment is also TH Remnant Rubs.

The sunflower embellie is also a Mod Podge melt and mold.

The stencil is the Tim Holtz Honeycomb. the tiny bee is a mini TH stamp, too.

I think that is about it, please let me know if you have any questions at all!

Have a super week!

APCC Week 12~Day 7 12 Days of Christmas Unruly PaperArts Link Party and Altered Playing Card Challenge

Wow Sunday!

Where is the time going? Crazy crazy! If you are looking for my 12 Days of Creepmas, please scroll down or click HERE :)

Today I caught up on the Altered Playing Card Challenge hosted by the lovely Claudine Criner. This is a great challenge and you can find all the cool details HERE

My take on the Week 12 is here. I went with affirmations and reminders to hold close in this hectic Holiday Season.

I am also playing along with Unruly PaperArts 12 Days of Christmas Link Party, this is Day 7 and this is what was on my desk this day:)

Both of these challenges can be joined by anyone at any point, so I hope you can take a look and have some fun!

Altered Playing Cards are so fun, they are small and fun to work with. They are the standard playing card size.

I used paper and tissue paper for the background and Unity Stamps.

This background was a scrap that I was playing with, just a technique playtime. I liked it and decided it worked for me today:)

~Enjoy~

Happy Holidays!

APCC Week 11~Altered Playing Card Challenge

Hello!
Welcome to Sunday!

Today I wanted to share my week 11 cards for the Alerted Playing Card Challenge by our wonderfully talented hostess Claudine Criner. You can see the wonderful challenge and her fabulous art HERE.

Click the images to make 'em larger:)

This was a super fun play! The backgrounds were created by using paper towels that had either been sprayed directly with ink sprays or the best part, the towels you use to soak up or dab off the excess ink that builds up when using sprays!

I put some gloss medium on top of the gessoed card. The skully card, I left the inked towel on it because I really love the texture!

The background has lots of bumps and ridges, so fun! Since I used gloss medium it dried nice and shiny. I added some sparkle tape at the bottom. The images are free digital stamps I found at WonderStrange. The digis are colored with Sharpies, Bic Mark It pens and some colored pencil.

For this card I applied the same gloss medium to the gessoed card. I pressed down an inked paper towel. I let it set for a few minutes and kinda pushed it down to get the ink into the medium. Then I pulled up the towel to leave the fun color on the background. The colors came out kind of bright, so I decided to stamp my images onto tissue paper then add it onto the card. The flower stamps are Prima, the circle is Unity. The sentiment stamp is Momenta. I added some tissue tape for the stem, but it is very light.

Thanks for looking!

Have a fun day!

Altered Playing Card Week 9~APCC

Happy Sunday!

I used this weekend to catch up on my altered playing cards for the wonderful challenge hosted by Claudine HERE

This is my set for week 9 :)

These were fun! Just fun images and texture!

I love this angel stamp. I am not sure who the maker is, but it is a wonderful stamp.  The sentiment stamp is Unity. The flowers I diecut from book pages.

This quirky tall hat man is a stamp I found on Wonder Strange, another super fun place to see!
I doodled the giant flowers to match the giant hat. I used a black Sharpie. It was a bit harsh so I added the gold Sharpie, a bit better:)

Have a fun day and thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a moment to leave a comment then pop over to see the APCC fun at Claudine's wonderful page, HERE

Time is running away from me screaming and yelling! I have no idea where October has gone let alone this week! Wow! Does anyone else feel the same?!?? I know lots of you are having wicked home-side challenges and my heart goes out to you and I am sending hugs and best of best wishes for things to get better<3

Now to get colorfully curious!  I have a curious altered playing card today:) Again...I know but they are soooo fun! Anyone can create with them and the cards will tough through, all sorts of paint, inks, dyes and tapes. Such awesome troopers!

The basics:

  • Added Dry wall tape, I love this one with dots:)
  • Covered with gesso
  • Distress paint: it has a dauber top and I just dragged it right across.
  • Spray with water to get the paints to react and blend and get pretty:)
  • If you don't like how the paint looks, just wash it off and try again.
  • I hadddd to use the Steampunk Curious just cuz I adore him<3
  • I stamped the wings next to the skull to be weird. Onto tissue paper since the surface is bumpy.
  • Add some doodles and remnant rubs.

Have a fun day and hop on to see more and more awesome projects today!

October 20~ 31 Days of Halloween Wicked Blogger Challenge Day 20~APCC Week 7 Lost Souls Madness

Monday!

Day 20 of 31 for the ongoing 31 Days of Halloween Challenge! Love it!!!

Wow this is winding down or revving up? What do you think??

Please visit Terra's blog for the details of the challenge and the daily Scavenger Hunt clue for this fabulous Smeared and Smudged event. WE have some awesome sponsors and you can see them at Terra's blog.

This is also my altered playing card for week 7 in Claudine's 26 week ongoing play along for altering an entire deck of playing cards. You can see this week's inspiration HERE and to join us go to this PAGE.

I made a pair of cards today. I added some creep I think or maybe it is just haunting, not really gruesome. The inspiration prompt was a nautical theme. My stash is small and very non-nautical, mostly grungy, darkness.

Really straightforward this time. The standard sized playing cards were covered in gesso awhile ago. The Madness card has some tape embedded to add texture.

I masked the plain gesso before inking with Distress Inks. Also did some stamping. Then I removed the tape mask and stamped the angsty lady and skull.

This one is fun. Take a piece of plastic, shrink plastic, plastic from a package, any thin one will do. I have a stash of the thin sheet that come with the cling stamps so that is what I used. Emboss it using a folder. Claudine used a bubble folder which is awesome for the underwater theme. I used the Tim Holtz bubble wrap one. I love the shadows you can see on the card from the embossed layer. The line above the card is a shadow, I cut the plastic flush to the card.

I stamped the lady 3 times only inking once.

Thanks so for all your awesome time and comments!

October 3~ 31 Days of Halloween Wicked Blogger Challenge Day 3~APCC Week 5

Greetings this Friday! Yay!

Today's post is Day 3 of Smeared & Smudged 31 Days of Halloween Wicked Blogger play along. The challenge being to post a new project each day using Halloween or Day of the Dead and a stamped or digi image.

See Terra's blog HERE for all the details. Remember there are great daily giveaways in the scavenger hunt and a giveaway for all you lovely Blog Hoppers :) In case you get lost, the Hop is right here>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>under Mr. Neon Skele!

My project is also for Claudine's Week 5 Altered Playing Card play along. This is another super fun project to alter an entire deck of playing cards, just do 2 per week. Cool thing is you can join up anytime to play along. Come see the fun HERE

This is the first card for this week, I hope to get the second one done soon, lol. The prompt is using acrylic paint and run from there!

I primed the card with a thin coat of gesso a couple of weeks ago to prep for this challenge. I painted the coral color onto the background and let it dry. Then I used a stencil to add the teal dots.

I used Unity stamps for everything else. The pumpkin was colored with Sharpies and Bic Mark It pens.  I stamped the bats and sentiment onto tissue paper with Jet Black Archival ink. The black dots are from a domino pattern Unity stamp.

I love the playing card size, it is very close to an ATC, so fun to play with!

Thanks for visiting today, I adore all the comments you all have left, makes me all smiles!
Happy Hopping, see the Hopper list on the right sidebar:)

Have a spooky day!

The background prompt this week is acrylic paint. Maybe add some silly houses and/or a digi stamp.
My mini houses were cut from a background leftover scrap. My Halloween kitty is a digi stamp drawn by Unky at The East Wind, she has the digis in her Etsy shop:)

Altered Playing Card Challenge~APCC~Play Along! Week 2~SSS Wednesday

Hey There!

Thursday's to-do list is done: I finished my two altered playing cards for Claudine's Play along, week #2. Come play with us in this fun and casual environment! Super easy to do and easy to catch up. You can see all the details HERE . So many inspirational projects, it is a happy place!

This week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday is all about Backgrounds, I think this project is an awesome fit!

For Claudine's Week 2, the basic suggested supplies were Dylusion Spray Inks. If you have not played with them I highly recommend it! They are so bright and fun! They are water reactive, so they are easy to lighten up if you feel they are too dark. Just take care when mixing colors so it doesn't get too muddy.

My two cards for week 2:

Feel free to click for a better bigger picture :)

I covered both cards with white gesso. I was pretty sloppy/casual about it, leaving brush marks and adding swirls. I wanted to start creating texture:)

On top of the gesso I used Dylusions sprays. I sprayed them heavy and let the colors run.

I really liked how the backgrounds came out, the colors are so vibrant. I did not really want to cover them up! I remembered to take a photo of the purple one before I attached the surface pretties.

At first the purple and turquoise were a bit dark, so once it was dry, I spritzed it with water again and dabbed some off. I am happy it revealed more swirls. Once this was dry I applied some dots with Distress Paint using the eraser end of a pencil. The Distress Paint also reacts with the sprays and you can get some cool effects too.

Next I worked on coloring the stamped and embossed images. This is the first time I used markers to color stamps. I just used the Sharpies and Bics I already had on hand. I also used a colorless blender pen to pull off some of the marker ink. I colored inside the gears with a waterbrush using some more Distress Paint.

On Be Fearless I played with some white lines using a white jellyroll pen. It kinda blends on the Dylusions, too. Nice surprises along the way:) I stamped and embossed the la la la not sure if you can see it. I stamped it with white pigment ink and embossed with clear.

Time does fly and this Challenge, Play along is super fun! I really hope you have a moment to leave a comment and then hop over and join up to play. You can find the details HERE

Have a lovely day!

Altered Playing Card Challenge~APCC~Play Along! Week 1

Blog surfing I found a posting about altered playing cards while here at Ink Stains with Roni. It looks so much fun! I followed her link to Claudine's Art Corner, Claudine is the fabulous inspiration of this amazing project!

I love the small format of ATCs and this a  great step and journey to make. Claudine is going to alter a full deck of playing cards, at a reasonable rate of just 2 per week! Do-able for sure....err I hope:) There will be some fun prizes along this journey and the prep step is now posted.

The prep step just make a regular any old deck of cards not so slick! Sand or gesso now so you are ready to play! Easy peasy so far:)

Join up and do make sure you hop over to Claudine's blog for all the fun details!

Fun, don't you think?
