Tim Tag~February 2015~12 Tags of 2015

Hi!

Today I just wanted to share the tag I made for Tim's 12 Tags of 2015.
This was a lot of fun to make and I did some improvising along the way, making what I have on-hand, work for the project. The is actually the most fun part sometimes :)

You can see all the lovely entries and the challenge HERE at Tim's blog.

And this is my entry. I hope you like it!

Please click the images to see it a bit bigger:)

To make the collage base, I made up my own ephemera using a couple of 12x12 sheet of Tim Holtz paper. I picked images that I liked, clocks, kitty, the bingo cards are fun not sure why I love them but I do :)

I used matte medium to adhere the pieces to the tag and a thin coat over the top to lock it down. I really like how it dried so soft and non-tacky.

I used Picket Fence Distress Paint along the edges and across some parts to lighten it up, parts seemed a bit dark. Once dry, I added another layer of matte medium. Once this layer dried, I darkened the edges, love how it brought in more depth!

I cut the heart from felt using a Sizzix mini heart movers die. I attached it using the Idea-ology long fastener. The crinkly ribbon I colored with Distress Ink Tea Dye one of my new favorite colors.

I cut the flower using a Holtz Tattered Floral die from metal tape. I embossed it with the chicken wire folder. It is painted with Black Soot Distress Paint.  I used some Holtz Rub-ons for the arrows and "choose joy". I love polka dots so I had to include them somehow. This dotted ribbon is actually seem binding.

I am really happy with this tag, I love how it came togther.

Anxious to hear what you think, too!

Have a super day!

Left of Center DT~New Challenge #67~ Sami Stamps~Spider

Hello Hello!

Ready for a creepy crawly day? Yay!

Today starts the newest challenge at Left of Center! This is my DT make for Challenge #67 with our awesome sponsor, Sami Stamps! The optional theme this fortnight is Spiders, have fun! Remember you can always follow the suggested theme or just let your darker side have a play! We love to see your art and we welcome digital/hybrid makes, too!

Please be sure to pop over to the LOC Challenge page to see all the wonderful inspiration and fantastic art by my fellow DTs.

I was given the digital stamp, "You and Me" by Sami Stamps for this challenge. You can visit Sami Stamps HERE

Please click each image to make it bigger.

This make is a bigger size, for me, it is 9 inches by 12 inches. With digital stamps, I like a bigger image, for me it is easier to color!

I colored the sweet image with my Bics and Sharpies. I added some detail with ball point colored pens.

I added lots of layers on top of a gesso'd background. I used Folk Art acrylic paint and Dylusions Spray Inks. The bubble flowers are aluminum tape, embossed, die cut and painted with Black Soot Distress Paint.

Thanks so much for looking! Love to hear what you think about this project!

Looking forward to seeing your art at LOC this fortnight!

~hugs~

APCC Week 24~Altered Playing Card Challenge~Washi Tape

Two for Tuesday!

Today I have my week 24 card pair done! Which is awesome because I love this challenge and super awesome because this week's prompt included the use of washi tape!

You can see and join the fun HERE at Claudine's blog. We are on week 24 of this 26 week project and I cannot believe it has gone so fast! If you want to play along, it is totally fine! There is a Facebook group that we post in and it will carry on, so everyone is welcome to join up anytime.

Please click each image to see it bigger:)

This is such a fun way to play and this technique....I LOVE it! I will be making more to share for sure! Claudine has a fabulous how-to HERE on her blog.

To me is was simple as simple can be. Cover the card with an arrangement of tape. You can use tape, ribbon or paper strips, whatever suits your fancy. Just use some glue or sticky tape to keep all the pretty rows in place.

I used a fun stamp and some Distress Ink for color on this purple background. I love this corset stamp! So fun! It is Graphic 45/Hampton art. The "Paris" stamp is Tim Holtz.

I used a Tim Holtz mini butterfly thin die to cut here. The hearts die is Simon Says Stamp. I embossed the manila layer with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. It is inked with Tea Dye Distress Ink and edged with Potted Soil Archival Ink.

What do you think? I am so excited to share these with you and really hope you can incorporate this into your makes!

APCC Week 23~Steampunk Altered Playing Card Set

HelloHello!

Happy Monday!

To get things started this week, I have my altered playing cards for week 23 of the 26 week challenge created and organized by our lovely hostess, Claudine. Please stop by her blog for all the wonderful how-to's and creative prompts. You can hop over by clicking HERE.

I used a stencil to create the masking effect. I love this stencil of gears and cogs by Crafters Workshop. To me it uses negative space to define the shapes, so it seemed like a mask. I inked this stencil over the Folk Art acrylic painted bases.

This set of cards really picked up a lot of the texture from the gesso covered playing cards. I like the texture, but it made the stamping a little 'off'. I am using a new set of playing cards that I found at the dollar store. They are playing cards used in a Las Vegas Casino, that is why the corners are clipped on two sides. They actually have the casino name on the backside, too. Kinda cool :)

The stamps are Tim Holtz, Hampton Arts and Rubber Cafe. I used Jet Black Archival to stamp the images.

Thanks for reading! Now I am caught up with this challenge (again) and so excited to play with this week's prompt, use washi tape!! yay!!

Have a creative day!

APCC Week 22~Stencil with White Glue

Hi!

Today I have my Altered Playing Card set for Week 22! If you would like to see all the details on this amazing challenge, hop over to Claudine's blog HERE

This week the challenge was to create some texture using a regular white glue and a stencil.

Here is what I managed!

Please click to see bigger!

I used a simple dot stencil and another animal print. The dots came out really cool. The white glue is fun and it takes a bit to dry. The shapes come out really soft and organic.

Once the glue dried, I painted over the whole card with Folk Art acrylics. I love these colors!

Umbrella Man seemed a perfect fit for my dots or giant raindrops:)

Have a great week! Make some time to play :)

Butterfly Art Tag~Mid-Month Mixed Media Mojo Inspiration

Happy Mid-Week!

Hope you all had a spectacular weekend and lovely Valentine's Day!

I have a fun tag to share with you today as Inspiration for our challenge at Mixed Media Mojo. The theme is Red and the Twist is Wings! You still have lots of time to play, we do hope you will join us and share this with your friends!

Here we go!

Please click each image to see them bigger if you like!

I made a manila tag, cut from a file folder. I used Distress Paint on the background. I misted the tag with water and pulled it through the paint on my craft mat. I let it dry then pressed it into the paint again to pick up more color and more spots. Once the paint was dry, I sprayed Dylusions red ink on it to make more red.

The butterfly stamps are Unity and I stamped them with Archival Ink, Jet Black. I painted the butterfly cut out using Distress Ink and a waterbrush. The "#here&now stamp" is Heidi Swapp.

The flowers are Tim Holtz Tattered Florals. They are inked with Distress Ink, Vintage Photo and splattered with Distress Paint, Picket Fence.  The two square embellies are Tim Holtz stickers. I sanded them because they were too shiny and clean, they had to be "aged". The "Remember" stamp is JilliBean.

I made the coil tag holder from craft wire bent around a paint brush. The heart embellie above it I also made. I glued some gear findings onto a wood heart. then I covered the heart with aluminum foil. I pressed it down. I used some black acrylic paint to cover the whole heart. Once dry I used some gold Rub N Buff to bring up the shapes.

Thanks so much for visiting!

I really hope you have time to play and share with us at Mixed Media Mojo!

Have a great day!

Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge #144 Bookworm/Things with Wings

Welcome to the start of a fabulous week!

Hope your week is wonderful and you have time for some inky or painty play!

Today I'd love to share an ATC I made for Wicked Wednesday's ATC Challenge.

The prompt this week was Bookworm or Things with Wings.

I covered my ATC with some Distress Inks and Distress Paint. Once dry I added a bit of texture paste through a stencil.

I added some torn magazine images and text. The sentiment above I stamped on tissue to get a better image on top of the bumpy substrate.

I double layered the dragonfly stamp to get more POP.

Hope you like this bit of early Spring color!

Thanks so much for visiting.

Snowman ATC~Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge #143

Hi!

Today I made an ATC for the Wicked Wednesday Challenge. This week's prompt was Snowmen.

As always, I have so much fun playing with this format, so small and fun to layer with!

I made the base of the ATC, which is 2 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches, from a piece of cardstock. I applied a thick layer of texture paste on top. I was messy with it to add more bumps and ridges. Then I inked over it with Distress Inks.

I diecut the snowman from a Simon Says Stamp flower die, you can see the die HERE.

Thanks for looking!
When you have a chance, I hope you can visit Wicked Wednesday and see all the wonderful mini pieces of art!

Have fun!!

APCC Week 20~Hearts/Love

And now I am caught up again and ready for the new challenge that begins in the morning! Yay! I LOVE making these cards and thank you so much Claudine for inspiring and making this 26 week long journey so incredibly fun!

Please visit Claudine's blog HERE to see the fun and details for Week 20.

Here is my play. I followed the inspiration and I adore the painted backgrounds.

Please click the pictures to see them bigger :)

I used Distress Paint and Dylusions Spray Ink for the drippy wonderful backgrounds. I misted with water to get them to react and drip. I forced myself to let them air dry. No heat gun, I think the colors turned out much deeper that way.

The stamps and stickers are Tim Holtz. I love this heart stamp, I bought the set just for this stamp:) So happy to use it all that I can.

I really did not plan on using the 9 of Hearts, it was totally random. So, loving the colors of the background, I wanted to show it all. I used a mini movers and shapers die, this cool layered heart. The pearly paint is a white Viva Perler Pen.

Happy Hearts Month! I think this month is second only to October for my all time favorite holidays.

Thanks so much!

APCC Week 19~Steampunk Fun!

Hi!

I finally caught up to week 19 of the Altered Playing Card Challenge hosted by the lovely Claudine. You can see all the great fun HERE

This week's challenge was Steampunk. Such an awesome play! I kept to the theme, but really fell in love with the texture, so I kept the surface embellishments minimal.

Really...please click to enjoy these bigger :)

I followed along with the drywall mesh tape, always one on my favorites to play with. The paint is Distress Paint, the metallics. So gorgeous! Love the sparkle and richness:)

The eye and sentiment are Tim Holtz! Again, such an absolute favorite of mine!

I stamped this winged clock onto a book page. I painted it with Distress Ink Vintage Photo.

Hope you enjoy! Thanks for looking.

New Mixed Media Mojo Challenge~Use Red, Twist Add Wings~February 2015

Happy Super Sunday!

Hope you are planning a bit of crafty fun today, maybe while watching the football game?
Whether or not you watch the sport, I am really glad you stopped by to see the newest challenge we have starting up at Mixed Media Mojo!

The February 2015 Challenge is to use Red and a special Twist, add wings! Not too hard this month but loads and loads of possibilities!

At Mixed Media Mojo, we have a new linky to add your art that started today.

I really am excited to share my project with you!

Please click the image to make it larger!

I made a canvas that is about 5 inches by 7 inches. I coated it with gesso, a batch I made here at home. I pressed into the gesso some dry wall mesh while wet. I sprayed some Distress Stain and Dylusions Spray Ink onto it. I set it aside to dry.  I added a couple more layers and used some Distress Paint to deepen the colors.

I used Distress Ink around the hearts and wings. I embossed some of the die cuts, I love dots!

The keys, lock, mini heart and flowers are all made from paperclay. I sprayed some of them with Dylusions. Once dry I used some Rub N Buff to accent the edges.

Happy Hearts Month!

I hope you have a chance to play with us at Mixed Media Mojo. Have fun with the theme this month, Red and add Wings. All we ask is is you limit your submissions to three each month and  provide a link to Mixed Media Mojo in your blog post with your submission!
