Tim Tag~April 2015~12 Tags of 2015

Happy Sunday!

Hope you had a fabulous weekend!

I made some time to finish up my April Tim Tag. Yay, done before the end of the month, hehe.

It was another improvise project, not having all the supplies used on his tag. You can see his awesome step by step HERE

I love the improv, definitely makes ya think!

Here we go, please click if you would like to see it bigger:)

I cut my tag from a manila folder. I inked the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink then splashed with some water.

I used two flowers from Inkadinkado that have stems sorta on the long side, the only ones I own. I used various Distress Inks to watercolor them.

I am really enjoying using the Remnant Rubs for my words and sentiments lately. I used a Tim butterfly die to cut out the smallest one on the word band.

I really love the simple vintage-feel tag this month. So fine and fresh for Spring. I really loved cutting the slot to pass the image sheet through. I will try to remember it and do it again...

Have a super wonderful week and thanks so much for stopping by!

New Challenge #75 Left of Center Creative Challenges~Fun Frights

Happy Friday!

Today begins the newest challenge at Left of Center Creative Challenges. Our theme this week is Fun Frights! Our wonderful sponsor this week is the digital stamp company, A Day for Daisies. All of the images they have are so beautiful, I really hope you have time to hop over and see them :)

I was given the cutey monster, "Monster Joe" to play with this week.

Please click each image to see it bigger :)

This is my version of a fun fright for kids....

It is a birthday giftcard holder.  The awesome sentiment is from Create with TLC.

I cut the backgrounds from a Ritz cracker box using my Tim Holtz mini cabinet card die.
The paper I embossed with the Holtz spiderweb folder.

I was so happy when this sentiment came along in the newsletter from Create with TLC, it is so fun and worked out great!

I added some shiny ribbon to hold the giftcard. To add the texture and some color to the outside, I sponged some paint onto once side of the embossing folder then ran it thorough my embosser. Washed the folder right away :)

Thanks for looking and reading! I hope you enjoyed your visit and will hop over to Left of Center and join the fun, for Fun Frights this week.

Rosey Hearts DT Special Feature~UpDo~Digital Stamp

Today is an extra special fun day at Rosey Hearts!

This has been a fun and busy week for Rosey Hearts, there is a new Challenge that started on the 15th, Melissa the fabulous Rosey Hearts artist has some new digis releasing and she gave all the DT this wonderful image to play with!

This lovely digi stamp is called, "UpDo". I hope you can pop over to the main blog to see all the wonderful variations with this image. If you have never played with digital stamps, why not give it a try? They are very flexible and you can make soooo many creations with them!

The large art tag is about 4.5 inches wide and 7.5 inches tall. I cut it out from a manila file folder.

I printed her out using my inkjet printer and some heavy mixed media paper. She is colored with Sharpies and ballpoint pens.

The background is made using FolkArt acrylic paint and a palette knife. Once dry I added some surface stamping. The birds in flight are stamped in Potting Soil Archival Ink. It is an Inkadinkado stamp.

I tried my hand at hand writing a sentiment, don't laugh :) It is a quote by Paul Hewson.

Happy Weekend!

Zombie Street Journal~Dream in Darkness~Zombie Tangle~ New Dark Challenge Blog May 1st

Happy Mid-Week!

I wanted to share with everyone today, a new Dark-themed challenge blog! I know many of you enjoy the darker side and where it is Halloween everyday :) If Zombies are not your thing, I totally understand and don't want to offend! This post may not be your cup of tea, but so happy you popped by! Hugs to all!

On Dream in Darkness we are featuring some warm-ups and pre-launch mayhem. Today I am sharing this canvas I made using an image by Rick St Dennis, MFA called Zombie Tangle. I was lucky to have won it during last year's 31 Days of Halloween Challenge :)

This is my zombie day make :)

Even zombies love color, hahaha! I love bright colors. He is colored using Sharpie markers. The background I layered up using actual newspaper. I used matte medium and various acrylics to add more texture.

If you want to explore your darker side, I hope you will pop over to check out our Dream in Darkness Challenge Blog. The first challenge goes live May 1st and our sponsor is Rick St Dennis. Our theme is always Anything Goes. Hope to see you soon!

#73 Left of Center New Challenge~Spots and/or Stripes

Welcome to a brand new challenge that begins today with Left of Center Creative Challenges. This is challenge #73, our theme is Spots and/or Stripes! This is a fun one!

Our fabulous sponsor is Limited Runs Digital Stamps.

I am so happy I was given a wonderful digital stamp to play with. It is Mushroom #9 and you can see it HERE.

"Dream a Little Dream" Mixed Media 'canvas' about 5 inches by 7 inches.

Click  the images to make them a bit bigger :)

My substrate is cardboard, just rough cut and raggedy. Neat cardboard does not quite strike me right....It is covered with a thin layer of gesso and then built up with some FolkArts Acrylics and Dylusions spray inks.

The mushrooms are colored with Bics and Sharpies. The sleeping fairy is a red rubber stamp, I don't know who made it. Just a fun image.

The flowers are made with my Tim Tattered Flower Garland die, cut from crinkled Deli Wrap tissue.

As always at Left of Center you are welcome to follow the suggested theme or if that does not strike your fancy, you are most welcome to play towards the dark side. We would love to see what you make!

Sweet Dreams and thanks so much for visiting!

April 1~New Challenge Mixed Media Mojo~Recycle/Upcycle: Twist Flowers~ CC3C #25~Rhedd's

Welcome April!

April what a fun day for so many reasons! No jokes...well at least not yet....

Today starts a fun new Challenge at Mixed Media Mojo! The theme is Recycle/Upcycle with a twist, Flowers....make of it what you like, just have fun and please share with us, we love to see your creations!

And a big joyful WELCOME to all of our new DT members! Please hop over to leave them some comment love:)

Click HERE to join the Challenge:)

Here is my project to share for your inspiration(hopefully!)

It started this clothing life as a wonderful shirt with cherries....

Then was transformed to a Springy canvas! The above picture I used flash on and it is still a bit harsh. In person it is much softer. I was impatient and rushed my photos...then I made more in the soft morning window light...

The butterfly is a Unity stamp, my current favorite. I stamped it onto a book page in Jet Black Archival. I colored it using Distress Inks, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Barn Door progressively. Once done I used my water brush to further blend the colors. Then of course the paper rippled...but I like how it made the butterfly have movement..magic!

Distress Paint and my Tim Rays stencil for the sun shiney fun.

I die cut the trellis using my Tim Frameworks die. Wonderful tip, there is a Challenge featuring the use of these dies, HERE. It is the Compendium of Curiosities Vol 3, Challenge hosted by Linda. This one is sponsored by Inspiration Emporium with a super wonderful $50 shopping spree!

You can start to see it here, more of the background layered in with stencils, stamps and mini stamps.

Please click pictures to see any bigger if you like :)

And the flowers:)  I love paper flowers! I made these using my Tattered Florals die. I used magazine pages with various imagery. Some of them are pictures of flowers.  I used the brads to hold the layers together. They were too flat and bold....so I crunched them up.

Then I sprayed them with Distress Stain Spray and splattered them with Distress Paint. I love how the  spray stain and paint made them more translucent quality. It really toned down the bright magazine imagery!

I am also entering this in the wonderful challenge hosted by Linda, the Compendium of Curiosities Volume 3, Challenge #25. If you are not sure what this challenge is, it is to follow along with Tim's book of techniques. This fortnight's features the Frameworks dies. Each Challenge has some wonderful prizes. This one has a chance to win a $50 gift certificate from Inspiration Emporium, hope you will visit the super shop HERE.

Another wonderful place to share your Mixed Media/Altered Art is at Rhedd's Creative Spirit. It is always Anything Goes as long as it is not a card, ATC or scrap page. The DT's art is wonderful and all the makes shared are amazing, do hop over and visit! I am linking to the April Challenge.

Thank you for following along!  Sharing the fun with Mixed Media Mojo, our April theme is Recycle/Upcycle, twist, Flowers.

Happy April!
