APCC Week 27~Finale~Altered Playing Card Challenge

Today I have my Altered Playing Card Challenge set, week 27!

It is the final week of the challenge which was to alter an entire deck of regular playing cards at the rate of one pair per week. and yes! I did each week!! So happy to have accomplished this and at the same time, sad to see it done.

Please visit our lovely hostess Claudine HERE to see all the wonderful details. There is a Facebook group and it will continue on and we will see what comes along!

Thanks so much for following along on this fabulous journey. It means so much, I appreciate each comment and view of these cards that are so fun to make! Giant enormous hugs and thanks to Claudine for putting all this together and providing inspiration each week!

Here we go, as always please click each image if you want to see a bigger version :)

The base is the regular playing card covered with gesso to make things 'stick'.

The background here is inked with Archival Ink, Fern Green. I stamped the Unity butterfly on a book page with Jet Black Archival and then fussy cut it. The background stamps are Tim Holtz and Prima, stamped with Distress Embossing Ink and embossed in black. After inking the background, it must be totally dry so the excess EP does not stick where it should not :) (thanks for that reminder Claudine)

The background here I inked with Archival Ink, Potting Soil. But...it was way too dark. I thought it might lighten up on the gesso but no hahaha. So the opposite half I inked with Distress Ink Wild Honey which turned out much more yummy. I love the highlight it created. The background is stamped with a Unity postage/stamps stamp. The smaller images are Heidi Swapp. I free hand cut the heart.

The black smudge around the images I created by using a waterbrush and a General's watersoluble graphite pencil. (Micheal's craft store $3 for 2 pencils) I love the moody feel these pencils make.

Thanks so much for visiting today!

Have a wonderful week!

APCC Week 26~Monochrome~Altered Playing Card Challenge

Hello, Happy Sunday!

Today was a fun play day, had a bit of time to make my week 26 altered playing card pair. And I am caught up, yay! Tomorrow brings the last week of the challenge to alter an entire deck of playing cards~none too soon, the following is Spring Break and it is sure to be crazy!

You can see this wonderful challenge hosted by Claudine HERE and there is also a Facebook Group that will carry on. This has been such a fun wonderful journey! Along which I have learned so many techniques that I probably would never have tried before!

This week's theme is Monochrome. It was a challenge for me, I have never played in monochrome much before.

Please click each picture if you would like to see it bigger:)

I used the whimsical birds from Vera Lane Studios, you can see her Etsy shop, HERE

I used some patterned paper over each card. I picked colors that I knew I had similar inks and paints to carry on in the monochrome.

I dabbed acrylic paint through a stencil on each card using a make up triangle sponge.

The sentiment stickers are Tim Holtz Chit Chat, love these! I added a little pen scribble with a Gelly Roll pen and PITT pen.

This was another really fun play and will attempt monochrome again.

Thanks for reading!!

Have a happy week!

APCC Week 13~Bee~Altered Playing Card Challenge

Greetings this Sunday!

The week is ending or is it beginning? It is all good!

Yay! I am current with the APC Challenge! We are in week 13, half -way to 26! I love this challenge, such a fun format to play along with! You can see all the details at Claudine's blog HERE or click the Altered Playing Card Challenge button on my sidebar:)  And don't worry, you can play anytime, join us, make it a new New Years Resolution that is fun!

The theme is Bees! Such a fun theme, I really enjoyed this nice change of pace this week!

Warning! Picture heavy, told ya I had fun with this one:)

Please click each image to see it bigger.

I coated each playing card with white gesso. Then I used Distress Paint on top for the yellow and brown.

The bee is made from a Mod Podge melt and mold. I painted it with regular acrylic paint. The mesh stamp is Unity, Chicken Wire, kinda close to a honeycomb shape:)

The trellis die cut is Tim Holtz Alterations cut from Tim Holtz paper. The sentiment is also TH Remnant Rubs.

The sunflower embellie is also a Mod Podge melt and mold.

The stencil is the Tim Holtz Honeycomb. the tiny bee is a mini TH stamp, too.

I think that is about it, please let me know if you have any questions at all!

Have a super week!

APCC Week 11~Altered Playing Card Challenge

Hello!
Welcome to Sunday!

Today I wanted to share my week 11 cards for the Alerted Playing Card Challenge by our wonderfully talented hostess Claudine Criner. You can see the wonderful challenge and her fabulous art HERE.

Click the images to make 'em larger:)

This was a super fun play! The backgrounds were created by using paper towels that had either been sprayed directly with ink sprays or the best part, the towels you use to soak up or dab off the excess ink that builds up when using sprays!

I put some gloss medium on top of the gessoed card. The skully card, I left the inked towel on it because I really love the texture!

The background has lots of bumps and ridges, so fun! Since I used gloss medium it dried nice and shiny. I added some sparkle tape at the bottom. The images are free digital stamps I found at WonderStrange. The digis are colored with Sharpies, Bic Mark It pens and some colored pencil.

For this card I applied the same gloss medium to the gessoed card. I pressed down an inked paper towel. I let it set for a few minutes and kinda pushed it down to get the ink into the medium. Then I pulled up the towel to leave the fun color on the background. The colors came out kind of bright, so I decided to stamp my images onto tissue paper then add it onto the card. The flower stamps are Prima, the circle is Unity. The sentiment stamp is Momenta. I added some tissue tape for the stem, but it is very light.

Thanks for looking!

Have a fun day!

Altered Playing Card Week 9~APCC

Happy Sunday!

I used this weekend to catch up on my altered playing cards for the wonderful challenge hosted by Claudine HERE

This is my set for week 9 :)

These were fun! Just fun images and texture!

I love this angel stamp. I am not sure who the maker is, but it is a wonderful stamp.  The sentiment stamp is Unity. The flowers I diecut from book pages.

This quirky tall hat man is a stamp I found on Wonder Strange, another super fun place to see!
I doodled the giant flowers to match the giant hat. I used a black Sharpie. It was a bit harsh so I added the gold Sharpie, a bit better:)

Have a fun day and thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a moment to leave a comment then pop over to see the APCC fun at Claudine's wonderful page, HERE

November 2~Week 8 APCC~Altered Playing Card Challenge

Hello!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Today I have my latest pair of altered playing cards for week 8 of Claudine's super fun play along! It is a 26 week long challenge to alter an entire deck of regular playing cards. These are so fun and they are very close to an ATC size. There is a very fabulous and active Facebook group playing along, created just for this challenge as well. You can join up anytime, lots of people have. To get all the details you can click HERE. Come play with us!

For this play I used two cards that I had prepped awhile ago with some drywall tape and masking tape covered with some white gesso.

I used Distress Paints on my cards. Straight from the bottle I just swiped 3 colors on each card. Then sprayed with water. As it started to react I tipped is to get some drips and blending.

I wanted to make a pair but not matched, so I used the same stamps, they are Inkadinkado. The top more earthy colors card is smoother so I stamped directly on the card with Archival Ink. The colorful one below has more of my favorite dots and is bumpy. So, I stamped the hearts and butterfly then cut them out.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I appreciate your time and enthusiasm! Your comments make my day!

~hugs~

October 13~ 31 Days of Halloween Wicked Blogger Challenge Day 13~APCC Week 6 Card 2

Monday!

Day 13 of 31! Love it!!!

SMILE we are almost half way there! I am thinking I will be sad when Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween is done:( What do you think?

Please visit Terra's blog for the details of the challenge and the daily Scavenger Hunt clue.

This is my second altered playing card for week 6 in Claudine's 26 week ongoing play along for altering an entire deck of playing cards. You can see this week's inspiration HERE and to join us go to this PAGE.

I made a Day of the Dead inspired card today.

The inspirational technique is to use a napkin. I found this Sugar Skull at a $1 store. I have always loved sugar skulls and have slowly collected small things. The bird underneath the skull was stamped on tissue. I adhered both with watered down gel medium. Really fun and effective, I love playing this way.

Hope you are having a great day!

The base is a regular playing card, primed with a layer of gesso. The background is made up of various torn papers. I inked over them with Distress Ink (DI) colors Antique Linen and Vintage Photo.
I used the Tim Holtz Splatters stencil with DI Aged Mahogany for the splattery dots.

The skull stamp was stamped on Strathmore Mixed Media 90lb paper.  The stamp is from the Inkadinkado Nevermore collection. I used a water brush and Distress Inks Antique Linen and Vintage Photo to color the skull.
