Metal Playtime!~CC3 Challenge #7~Mixed Media Monthly

Hello Again!

Well so much for getting things done early! the second of my posts in one day, yay! So many fun projects to inspire and play all fell in line at the same time! It is great, crazy busy is satisfying:)

Among my favorite places to play is the Compendium of Curiosities Vol 3 Challenge hosted by the amazing Linda Ledbetter and her Curiosity Crew all so talented and amazing. Make sure you check out all the INCREDIBLE works submitted by sooo many talented people HERE, all the Challenge rules can be found there too:)  This is Challenge #7: Painted Industrial, all the wonderful ODD numbers are sponsored with a generous gift from Inspiration Emporium! Is good to be odd :)

A super new and fun place to play is at Mixed Media Monthly's New Challenge! This theme this month is Around the House! There are prizes to be won HERE too, please go take a look-see!

Onwards! I had so soooooo much fun with this project and poured as much as I could into it and here it is!

I used metal foil, embossed, alcohol inked, attached and arranged away. I used some old picture frames and stuck them together to make my own deep shadow box. The blue "vase" is an old salt shaker. The netting in wonderful white and red is from the Baby Cheese packs, lovingly stashed aside, "really mom, what do you need those for...." quiet reply, bashfully, "dunno, something somewhen....."

Here is my mini gallery, enjoy your viewing!

Full view, please click each image to see them bigger:) I included an extra photo that looks the same since well my camera(most likely the photographer) is red challenged! My paper tattered roses are a bright red and well I really wanted to make sure they stood out:) In so doing the metaliciousness kinda got blown out....

Across the top, sentiment stamped onto tissue then added to the polka dotted die cut. The Crescent Moon popped up on foamy dots for dimension. My magical planets! some really humble buttons wanted to join this party!

I am very very happy with Mr. Bird! He watches over it all and is dreaming of being a butterfly I think. And of course, the key to open your heart and mind.

Again two angles to show the yummy texture.

If you are reading at this point, I thank you ever so much for staying and joining this amazing journey into Industrial Paint and Humble Household Stuffs!

This is humbly submitted to the Compendium of Curiosities Volume 3 Challenge:Painted Industrial sponsored with a generous gift from Inspiration Emporium and a Crew's Choice gift provided by Tim Holtz.

Also, submitted to the Mixed Media Monthly July Challenge with 2 wonderful gifts provided by Die Cuts With A View.

I would be very happy if you have a moment to leave a comment:)

Have a super day!

Summer Fun!~Reader Art Quest July 2014

Happy Last Day of July!

Wow! Sooo amazing how fast time is passing by! Pausing briefly to catch my breath and share a couple of projects! Hope you like them!

This fun silly tag I made following the Reader Art Quest prompt at Unruly Paperarts. The word prompt, Summer Fiesta! The color/photo prompt yummy Summer colors, bright yellow, pink, orange, red and green! See the Summer Fiesta HERE. Also, I like to play at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, the theme this week: Anything Goes

I found inspiration with the wonderful colors and turned Fiesta into Fun! Fun as in the Summer Fair or Carnival, all the bright lights and vivid colors. And of course the GIANT stuffed plushies you want in that instant and feel so soooooooo happy and satisfied as you wagg it through the Carnival.

Color inspiration, well......I must admit a few Starburst fruit chew candies were sacrificed in the name of ART to be forever immortalized as my taggy's background!

Plushie dream was fulfilled skimming a magazine and BOOM! There was my giant PINK Unicorn with wings!! and I am not afraid to admit I realllllly want one:)

Candy wrappers were stuck down with gel medium and coated lightly with gesso. I stamped "Summer" using Hero Arts block letters onto tissue since the surface was bumpity.

Cotton Candy not included, sorry folks! I think Candy Floss sounds much more exotic, what do you think?

Have a fun colorful day!

My Favorite Stamp, Umbrella Man Card with Spots and Dots Simon Says Stamp, Wednesday

Happy Day!

Thanks for stopping by, I just finished a simple card and love to share it with you!

I used my favorite Tim Holtz stamp, for the moment anyways, the Umbrella Man. Yes it is true you see it everywhere, 'cuz it is soooooo awesome:) I have had this idea in my head seems like forever and really wanted to create more with this image. So much fun to just play!

I used my embossing folders with foil tape. Then I used alcohol inks to color the tape. I stamped the imagery on deli paper and layered it on top of the embossed tape with gel medium. Then a simple attach to the card, done! Fun and easy.

Please let me know what you think! This is entered into the Simon Says Stamp, Wednesday Challenge: Spots & Dots! I loveeeee polka dots! must get more and use more....off to play some more:)

Please click each image for a larger view.

Just rotated a bit to catch the texture and color.

Burlap Panel~Compendium of Curiosities V3 Challenge #6~CC3C

Happy Day Kind Journeyer!

I hope you enjoy your brief rest here, pull up a chair and relax:)

This week brings the next challenge for the Compendium of Curiosities V3 Challenge with our lovely hostess Linda Ledbetter and awesome Curiosity Crew, see all the fabulous works of art created thus far on the Journey, HERE. As with each Challenge, there is a Crew prize generously donated by Tim Holtz and Mario Rossi. You can join the Challenge anytime, pick up your copy of the Compendium from Tim himself, HERE and Tim will sign it for you, too!

This is Challenge number 6, sponsored with an additional gift donated by our fabulous sponsor, The Funkie Junkie Boutique! Thank you!! Please visit the amazing shop, HERE.

This base for this project is a burlap panel, altered, page 37 in the Compendium V3. So much fun and soooooo challenging. Time to let the imagination run wild and the inspiration to strike! This one took many look backs to the Crew's amazing projects, THANK YOU so much for providing them, they are sooooo helpful each time I feel stuck and want to bail out on the whole process! yikes! I am really learning to be patient with my creative process. (slowly)Realizing though I may have an idea what I want to do, well, the Journey takes me elsewhere and it is fun along the way:) smallest things can inspire a new tangent...go with it....

I really enjoy the texture of the burlap. It was a challenge to NOT bury the texture as well as various elements used.

Everyday Memories Inspire

The canvas felt a bit too dark for this bright Summery time here. I wanted to celebrate the bright colors of the sunny day and the wonderful Summer flowers in my garden. I also wanted to maintain the amazing imagery from the tissue, way too gorgeous to hide!

The flower photos are mine from my garden:) Yellow Daisy and Blue Cornflowers. The images were printed on color laser paper. The top one, "Everyday" was  a clear tape transfer. I wanted the ability to see through an image, kinda how things are seen in memory, all overlapped and sometimes changing slightly with time's passage.

The 'Polaroid" frames are diecut from Strathmore Mixed Medium paper using Spellbinders Shapeabilities, "Snapshot" die set.

For the frames, I clear embossed the patterns. Then I painted it with Distress Paint, Broken China. Added some Distress Marker ink, Seedless Preserves on top. Both were mixed around with a regular brush and waterbrush.

I am very happy with the texture and color the frames have, kinda like a very summery tie-dye t-shirt :)

I hope you liked this project! Stop and smell the flowers, let everyday memories inspire!

This project is linked to the Compendium of Curiosities Vol 3 Challenge, sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique with a super fun $25 gift certificate! Thank you so much for your kind support!

Tag~ ChitChat~Shake It!~SimonSaysStamp Wednesday

Hey There,
Happy Tuesday!

I hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th if you celebrate the day and a fun relaxing weekend never-the-less!

I saw the prompt posted last Wednesday at Simon Says Stamp, Wednesday Challenge to Shake It. It sounded so fun and different for me. A really cool prompt. Well...the idea was in my brain that I wanted to do something and I was patiently mulling it over in my brain and struggling to ignore all the can't dos and must dos that annoying inner voice possesses. Now so impatiently waiting for that A-HA! moment when I could pull it all together...

Fast forward to this morning....yes I seem to create, work, (have more fun) with a deadline looming!.....I came across a blog post about upcycling packaging. This one at ArtistCellar to reuse the plastic bubble that holds an object onto a board backer card. A-HA! finally the thing to hold the shaker stuff and without spending anything new!! Yay!

Thus this tag was born, it is very young, be kind! I have always loved the clear acrylic 'wands' filled with oil and glitter and various treasures to eye-spy! This is my tribute to that mesmerizing toy:)

A simple tag with distress paint, embossing paste, fancy tape, stamped stained tissue, all mounted on a manila tag for extra support for all the shaking!

I used the Tim Holtz ChitChat stickers and edged with Distress Ink for the words and Distress Glitter for the sparkle! The tissue is small bits from the stained tissue I stamped the stamp and time companion sentiment onto.

Thank you for looking! I hope you like it:) Find me playing at
