May 30~PicturePlay~Texture Tuesday

Happy Day Before the Weekend!

Just sharing a  simple composite image I made from my own images. It was "permission to play" this week. A time to just create and enjoy in the (all too brief) stolen moments between Life Stuff! Should Life Stuff be in all caps? I think so, haha!

The photo image was simple. I love image of clocks and clockfaces. I had done a photo of a clock face charm with no hands, bunches actually....the image I used here is one from that shoot and I did a photograph of the resulting image as it was displayed on my laptop. I love the texture the screen lines add.

Then I did a simple composite with holiday lights and topped it all off with a texture from Kim Klassen, called kk_scrapit, 11% opacity, Vivid Light blend mode. I really liked that setting, it added some nice color into the numbers.

I hope you like it. If you have the time visit Texture Tuesday to see all the wonderful creations, too. Yes I know it is Friday, I'm late. Honest, time runs away and carries me along! I wish my clocks had no hands, then wouldn't time not be in such a rush?

Have an awesome weekend!

I am so happy you had time to drop by! Let me know what you think in the comments below :)

CC3 Challenge #2~Make a Wish~Mixed Media

Happy Friday!

The next challenge for the Tim Holtz, (awesome book and stuff!), Compendium of Curiosities, Volume 3 Challenge #2, Distress Glitter! Sparkly fun, but this glitter is so much better! No so in your eyes, get out the sunglasses super shiny! It is much softer and vintage.  This is an even numbered challenge so it is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique with a $25 Gift Certificate. In addition, Tim Holtz and Mario Rossi have made generous donations to a lucky winner as well to support this amazing challenge hosted by Linda Ledbetter at Studio L3, thank you!

Onwards, this is my mixed media piece, it is about 8 inches tall and 6 inches across, titled "Make a Wish".
The background is a heavy piece of multi-purpose paper. I coated it with gesso. Then had fun making impression into the semi- wet gesso. Then started playing with alcohol inks and Dylusions spray ink. The dandelion image is my own photo of a dandelion, textured in Photoshop Elements.

I hope you like it and do check out all the other entries into the challenge, it is a lot of fun and there is sooooo much lovely art out there!

Some more detailed images, click on each one for a larger version:)

Texture Tuesday~May 20~Black & White Edition

Hi!

Thanks for coming by today!

Today's TT Edition is 'Black and White'. I love B/W photography. It is so clean and very dramatic. Almost always I lean towards the more contrasty the better. It is a lot of fun to take a color image backwards, instead of beginning with beloved black and white film. (though I still love film!)

Have fun and let me know what you think!

Back to my lovely dandelions. They bring me almost as many smiles as sunflowers. Using Photoshop Elements 11, I converted the color picture into B/W and adjusted the levels. I added the birdy vine texture from The Coffeshop Blog. Then added kind Kim's kk_waterfront18 texture in the color burn mode 55%. Lastly I used a wonderful grungy vintage film background from Shadowhouse Creations.

Stop and look for a dandelion today:)

~Texture Tuesday~Yellow~May 13, 2014~

Hello! Happy Sunny Tuesday!

Just a quick post in support of Texture Tuesday hosted by Kim Klassen. Such wonderful art there and so many wonderful contributors!

It is a sunny YELLOW theme this day....please feel free to click to see a bit bigger image.

A still life is still much of a challenge for me, so this was fun practice....and something I need to do more of:) I really like worn, well- loved pieces and this is what I was hoping to convey.

My texture layers are all Kim Klassen:
The frame base is the texture "Appreciate".
Base layer on the flower used "rest_magic" with Lighten at 78%
Mid layer used the texture "rest" with  Pinlight at 72%
Top layer used the texture "minus43 with Color Burn  at 100%

Have a super day and if you have a moment be sure to check out all the wonderful yellow themed art photos!

CC3 Challenge #1~Enjoy the Journey~Mixed Media

Hello:) I hope this day finds you well and enjoying the moment!

As this blog is a first for me, so is this entry into another challenge. Below is my very FIRST, (so scary!)
mixed media project ever for me! I love taking pictures and recently began playing around and trying to enhance the images I capture, as you might see from my other photos below. I have always wanted to do more than the image alone. I want to push and see what else I can create using my images as part of something else, creatively.

Along the way at the wonderful craft shops I discovered the massive creative line of Tim Holtz. I LOVE the Steampunk nature and feel to the goods! So exciting!! Thus far I have only gathered a few things for my creative stash. Googling I discovered all these wonderful blogs and was so inspired~ my bookmarks are jammed with so much good stuff!

Along came Linda Ledbetter's Studio L3 Blog with the Compendium of Curiosities Vol 3 Challenge, CC3C! She assembled a wonderful creative crew and together they are putting on this CC3 Challenge. They are all SO talented and I feel so small. See the amazing creative Crew here. All the details of the CC3C week 1 are here.

To make it even more GIANT, there are prizes generously donated by Tim Holtz & his Business Manager Mario Rossi. That in and of itself is soooooo amazing and generous BUT there's more! Inspiration Emporium is sponsoring the odd numbered challenges with a $50 gift certificate. The Funky Junkie Boutique is sponsoring the even numbered challenges!

Enough words, thank you SO much if you read all that!

This is my piece for the Compendium of Curiosities Vol 3 Challenge, page 43~ Distress Paint Marbling. The image is clickable for a larger peak:)

My image of a pretty dandelion flower, layered and image transferred by gel medium to cardstock, then layered on the marbled paper below. Lots of open room to grow as I intend to "Enjoy the Journey" and not be too stressed!!

More FUN challenges! Linked to:

Simon Says Stamp: Monday Challenge. The Theme "5". Five simple elements to the design:) ...first stamp effort, too! The Tim Holtz stamps are wonderful!!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. The Theme "Flowers". Yay! I love my dandelion:)

Thanks so much for your time! Your comments are most welcome. Be good to yourself and enjoy the day!

Happy May!~Friday Photo Art~

After all the extreme wind we had a few days ago, it is now super hot! We seem to be skipping seasons lately, one extreme to another. Crazy!

First Friday is so early this time, haha. For the Friday Photo Art the optional theme is "Collage". Link up by Saturday May 2 at 6pm EST to share your photo art. It open to everyone. See all the fun details here .  See the Giveaway details from gracious Bonnie, here.  The theme is optional, just have fun!

After a bit of playing, this is my creation, "Cloud Break".

I think it is more of a composite, I was struggling a bit with layering various photos, so I started to play more with texture. I used Bonnie's texture, the gorgeous simply on its own, pdpa Musique texture, here.

Thanks so much for stopping by, comments and suggestions are welcomed. Make sure to visit all the other creative artists, too!

Be good and have a wonderful weekend.
